The Queensland economy created more than 1,500 jobs each day during the month of May, according to the latest Labour Force data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Treasurer and Minister for Trade Cameron Dick said the stunning performance showed the continued strength of Queensland's economic recovery.
"In a single month, 46,600 jobs were created in Queensland, the equivalent of the entire population of the Scenic Rim," the Treasurer said.
"Queensland accounts for one in five Australians, but last month we created three out of every four Australian jobs.
"Not only that, but we created those jobs as the number of people looking for work was rising.
"Queensland's participation rate of 67.2 per cent is the highest in eastern Australia.
"This is yet more evidence of how important a strong health system and better services are to strong economic performance, and in next week's State Budget we will strengthen those public services even further.
The May Labour Force data showed Queensland's unemployment rate fell by 0.5% to 4.0% and follows the trend of recent economic data showing the strength of the Queensland economy.
In this week's NAB Monthly Business Survey, showed Queensland recorded the second strongest business conditions of all mainland states, while our business confidence was the second highest in the nation.
The ABS Monthly Household Spending Indicator for April released this week showed that Queensland's household spending is 11.4 per cent higher over the year and 16.4 per cent above its pre-COVID level of February 2020.
