A Queensland couple is experiencing a whirlwind of emotions after their daughter discovered their $1 million win in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4473, drawn Saturday 1 June 2024.
The couple from Urraween in Hervey Bay, who are currently on holiday, were initially skeptical of their $1,048,013.90 win until a family verification made it all feel real.
The couple will never forget the moment their daughter discovered their million-dollar win in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw, prompting all three to jump up and down in joyous disbelief.
The winning man answered the phone call from lottery officials on Monday but was travelling and couldn’t speak about his win until this morning.
“I could give you a kiss!” he joked when the enormity of his prize was finally confirmed.
“We can’t believe it.
“We were a bit sceptical about the first call we received on Monday morning and we couldn’t speak all day because we’re out and about on holidays.
“I spoke to my daughter last night about the call we received, and she rushed over to our home, found the ticket and checked the winning numbers online.
“My granddaughter was filming it on a video call with us and we all just started to scream and jump up and down.
“We spoke to our son this morning and he just responded with, ‘Oh yeah, ok’. He didn’t seem to believe it at first but then we sent him the video of us discovering the win and he got super excited.
“It doesn’t feel real. Things like this don’t happen to us.
“We’re not used to $1 million!
“We had a few glasses of champagne to celebrate but I can’t wait to get back home and celebrate with the entire family!”
The hopeful husband shared more travelling and a brand-new car was on the cards with his marvellous million-dollar win.
“We’re on holiday right now, and it’s a bit out of the box for us because it’s a bit too lavish for our liking, but now we’ll be able to really enjoy it and even go on more holidays,” he said.
“I’d also like to upgrade my wife’s car!
“So exciting.”
Their winning 18-game QuickPick was purchased at Nextra Fraser Gateway Newsagency, Shop 22-23 Stockland Shopping Centre, 6 Central Avenue, Urraween.
