A man will face court today after being extradited from Queensland over serious domestic violence offences in Sydney's west earlier this year.
In February 2024, officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command commenced an investigation into alleged domestic violence incident at Bidwill.
With the assistance of the North West Metropolitan Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team (NWMR DVHROT), police obtained an arrest warrant for a 52-year-old man, who was known to be residing in Queensland.
On Monday (29 April 2024), with the assistance of Queensland Police the 52-year-old man was arrested at a home in Rubyvale, Queensland, by virtue of the outstanding NSW arrest warrant.
Officers attached to the NWMR DVHROT travelled to Queensland on Tuesday (30 April 2024), where they applied for, and were granted, the man's extradition in Rockhampton Magistrate's Court.
He was escorted by police to Sydney yesterday (Wednesday 1 May 2024), and taken to Mascot Police Station, where three outstanding warrants were executed for the following offences;
- Intentionally choke person with recklessness (DV),
- Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV),
- Destroy or damage property (DV),
- Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, and
- Use carriage service to threaten serious harm.
The man was refused bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court today (Thursday 2 May 2024).
