Queensland Police HQ Shines Purple for LGBTIQ+

Queensland Police Headquarters turned purple for Wear It Purple Day (August 30) as a representation of our commitment to supporting and respecting the LGBTIQ+ community.

Wear it purple day is the annual expression of support for rainbow young people, reminding them that there is hope, that there are people who support and accept them, and that they have the right to be proud of who they are.

Another important part of the QPS commitment is the LGBTIQ+ liaison officer program, which provides officers with specific LGBTIQA+ training to foster trust and understanding between the QPS and LGBTIQ+ communities.

There are now over 200 LGBTIQ+ liaison officers working in police stations around Queensland.

Visit the QPS website to learn more about how the QPS is committed to ensuring policing services are accessible to all members of the community, which includes services and programs that are tailored and responsive to the needs of LGBTIQ+ people.
