More than 4,000 Queenslanders had the opportunity to experience the future of policing at the Queensland Police Service (QPS) Brisbane Open Day today, July 20.
The Open Day provided an immersive experience, featuring demonstrations from various specialist units including Dog Squad, PolAir, Special Emergency Response Team, Forensic Services Group, and Water Police.
Attendees had the unique opportunity to see these units in action and interact with officers while learning about the diverse roles available within the QPS.
The sold-out event showcased real Queensland Pollice Officers in moments that reflect their day-to-day on the job.
From the academy to the frontline and specialist units, the 2024 Open Day highlighted how proud our officers are to being part of a service offering continued professional development, incentives and a diverse range of career paths.
Since the launch of the "Challenging, Rewarding, Policing" campaign in 2023 we have 2,276 recruits in the pipeline.
More than 744 recruits have graduated from QPS academies, with 743 currently undergoing training, with the Service well on the way to achieve its goal to recruit 2025 officers by 2025.
Commissioner Steve Gollschewski emphasised the importance of these events for future recruitment.
"Our Open Days highlight the rewarding and diverse career pathways within the QPS," said Commissioner Gollschewski.
"It is great to see so many people at the Brisbane Open Day and their interest in the important role we play.
"I encourage anyone in Townsville to come to the Open Day on August 3 and explore some of the fantastic opportunities on offer.
"There's never been a more exciting time to join the Queensland Police Service.".
For those who missed the Brisbane event, QPS will host another Open Day at the Townsville Police Academy on Saturday, August 3.
