Queensland Police Tee Up Community Connections

The Queensland police recruiting team took to the green during the PGA Tour event at Nudgee Golf Club from October 31 to November 3, connecting with the community while Brisbane showed the world the benefits of living and working in the Sunshine State.

While attendees were thrilled to see Brisbane-born professional golfer Cameron Smith in action, many also took the opportunity to speak with Queensland police officers and recruits, learning more about their roles and thanking them for their service to the community.

The Queensland Police recruiting team was also on hand, meeting attendees interested in a policing career, answering questions about what life in the Queensland Police Service (QPS) entails. For recruits currently training at the Queensland Police Academy in Oxley, it was an opportunity to offer first-hand insights, share application preparation tips, and provide a glimpse into life in the academy.

"Queensland Police officers are on the frontline, managing everything from crime prevention and emergency response to community engagement and public safety," said Regional Recruiting Coordinator George Karonis.

"It's important that people considering career options have these opportunities to connect with our officers and recruits, to learn more about what a policing career involves directly from those on the frontline."

Mr Karonis emphasised that a policing career offers paid training as a recruit, ongoing professional development, and pathways to specialist units and leadership roles. He said this diversity of opportunities resonated with attendees seeking a meaningful career.
