The Queensland Police Service are committed to reducing the trauma on Brisbane roads, but we can't do that without your help.
As of August 25, 31 lives have tragically been lost on Brisbane roads, marking a significant rise from this time last year, which saw 16 lives lost.
Many of these fatalities have been the result of speeding, or other dangerous driving behaviours.
This Queensland Road Safety Week (QRSW), police are inviting the Brisbane community to local road safety events to discuss how road users can consider that Fatal Five and make choices that get them home safely
North Brisbane District (NBD):
NBD police invite motorcycle road users to a meet and greet at Mt Glorious café.
The meet and greet is an opportunity for motorcycle users to have a free coffee, ask questions, talk about road safety, offer suggestions to improve road safety, have your bike inspected (non-enforcement), generally interact with police in non-enforcement arena.
- Where: Mt Glorious café
- When: 7am to 1pm on Saturday August 31.
South Brisbane District (SBD):
SBD police invite road users to meet them for Coffee with a Cop to ask any questions you have for police about road safety and how to recognise risks that may prevent you from getting home safely:
- Where: Simple Bliss Coffee – 3 The Esplanade, Forest Lake
- When: 8:30am - 10:30am on Friday August 30.
A road safety display will also be available at Carindale Westfield food court from 10am – 12noon on Tuesday August 27.
These activities are in addition to the usual road policing activities in Brisbane region.
Road safety is everyone's responsibility and by working together, we can ensure Brisbane roads are safer for everyone, this QRSW and everyday beyond.
The Queensland Police Service is committed to reducing number of lives lost on our roads.
Data shows that serious crashes can be significantly reduced when drivers recognise and avoid the 'Fatal Five' behaviours: speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue and distraction.
