Queensland's Manufacturing Minister Glenn Butcher has announced the Queensland Government has been successful in its bid with the Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited (AMTIL), to bring Australian Manufacturing Week to Brisbane in 2026.
This will be the first time the event will be held outside of Sydney or Melbourne and cements the state's reputation as the place to be for manufacturing in Australia.
The event will be an opportunity for local manufacturers to showcase their capabilities.
It is expected thousands of delegates and more than 150 exhibitors will flock to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre for the weeklong celebration.
This announcement backs in the Miles Government's support for manufacturers through its suite of successful grant programs including the Made in Queensland and Manufacturing Hubs Grant programs.
Australian Manufacturing Week brings together industry innovators and technology specialists from around the world, and the event serves as a vital networking and professional development opportunity for anyone working in the sector.
As stated by Minister for Manufacturing, Glenn Butcher:
"If we can make it here in Queensland, we should, and we are.
"Queensland manufacturers regularly exhibit at this event so it's an incredible opportunity to showcase Queensland's thriving manufacturing sector.
"The Queensland Government has track record of not just attracting events to this state, but also providing unrivalled support to their success and the 2026 Australian Manufacturing Week will be no exception.
"There's no doubt we're the envy of other states and manufacturers are moving to Queensland because we've created an environment to set them up for success.
"Manufacturing is the backbone of the Queensland economy, contributing $20 billion a year and supporting local regional communities through jobs and business growth with nearly 180,000 Queenslanders make their living in the industry.
"From food and beverages to medication and aircraft components, we make it all here in Queensland, in every corner of our state.
"The Miles Government is supporting manufacturers through record investment in the sector, unlike the LNP who when in government cut funding for manufacturers and sent opportunities like train manufacturing overseas."
