QUT and Bundaberg Regional Council have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to encourage collaboration on energy and agriculture projects.
QUT Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Sheil said the university would share its expertise in biotechnology, clean energy, and emerging industries and collaborate with the regional council.
"QUT and the Bundaberg Regional Council will work together to identify projects of mutual interest that complement the university's teaching and research strengths in AgTech, the bio-economy and space science," Professor Sheil said.
Mayor of Bundaberg Regional Council, Jack Dempsey said the partnership would also create opportunities for QUT and the council to work with local industry.
"These future linkages include potential new developments in agricultural technology," Mayor Dempsey said.
"There will also be an opportunity for collaboration to expand the local bio-economy and for renewable energy research projects," he said.
