Raptor Squad Charges Alameddine Associate for Fake Gun Sale

Raptor Squad officers have charged an alleged Alameddine associate for allegedly trying to sell a fake pistol in a Bankstown hotel yesterday.

Police were called to a hotel on the Hume Highway, Bankstown, about 10pm (Thursday 20 September 2024), following reports a man was attempting to sell a firearm to multiple people.

Officers attached to State Crime Command's Raptor Squad arrived and searched a 42-year-old man, locating a cigarette lighter made to look like a firearm allegedly secreted in his underwear, as well as a small amount of drugs – suspected of being GBL – in his bag.

The man was arrested and taken to and taken to Bankstown Police Station. Both items have been sent for forensic examination.

The man was charged with acquire firearm subject to prohibition order, possess unauthorised pistol, and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today (Friday 20 September 2024).

Police will allege in court the man was an associate of the Alameddine Organised Crime Network and was attempting to sell the firearm to members of the public at the hotel.
