Raptor Squad Targets Hells Angels in National Run

Raptor Squad officers issued 50 traffic fines, seized knuckle dusters and charged two men during an operation targeting the Hells Angels in Canberra area last week.

State Crime Command's Raptor Squad, with ACT Policing, participated in the joint operation during the Hells Angels national run within the ACT between Thursday 30 January 2025 and Sunday 2 February 2025.

Ahead of the run at about 7.30am on Thursday 30 January 2025, Raptor Squad officers executed two Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance checks at homes in Goulburn and Queanbeyan.

During a search of the Goulburn home, police located two knuckle dusters, a lock picking kit, and small quantities of white powder and green matter believed to be prohibited drugs.

Investigations are ongoing in relation to those seized items.

On Friday 31 January 2025, Raptor Squad officers established two Vehicle Check Points (VCPs) on the Barton Highway at Murrumbateman and on the Federal Highway at Sutton.

Officers stopped and checked approximately 40 members on motorcycles and four support vehicles.

Raptor Squad continued monitoring the rider's activities on Saturday 1 February 2025 and assisted ACT Policing with a VCP outside the Harmonie German Club in Canberra.

In total, Raptor Squad officers conducted 35 person searches, 18 vehicle searches, identified 23 vehicle defects, and issued 50 traffic infringement notices.

A 36-year-old man was charged with possessing prohibited drugs and a 43-year-old man was charged with never licenced person drive vehicle on road.

Both were issued a Court Attendance Notices (CANs) to appear in Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday 17 March 2025.

A 30-year-old man was spoken to in relation to the discovery of a knife, with further inquiries to be conducted.

Commander of State Crime Command's Raptor Squad, Detective Acting Superintendent Virginia Gorman, said Raptor Squad will never take the pressure off OMCGs.

"Outlaw motorcycle gangs and their associates should know that they cannot gather in large numbers for a national run without attracting the attention of the Raptor Squad," Det A/Supt Gorman said.
