The Ravensbourne Waste Facility is accepting small household waste loads after re-opening to the public this morning (November 27) following its closure during the recent Pechey-Ravensbourne district bushfire.
Toowoomba Regional Council Water and Waste portfolio leader Cr Bill Cahill said the Ravensbourne site was unable to accept large loads, especially burnt waste.
Cr Cahill said some material which appeared cool on the outside could pose a fire risk if left with other material at the site or could easily reignite if it hadn't been fully extinguished.
"We need to be especially careful that there is no fire risk at the facility. Large loads, especially material that was burnt during the recent fires, will be directed to different waste sites.
