The Centre for Global Health (CGH) at the University of Oslo (UiO) was pleased to host its first Research ExceLlence and Innovation in Global HealTh (RELIGHT) Symposium on 7 April 2022. RELIGHT was created to assist research groups in advancing their global health agenda through project development support. Its overall aim is to lift already strong research groups at the Faculty of Medicine at UiO and encourage their success in obtaining external funding for reaching the status of research and innovation excellence.
The symposium recognized the successful work done by the three research groups awarded funding from 2019-2022. The projects included:The Digital Health Promotion in the Global South project led by Josef Noll, The Child, Nutrition and Development (CHNUDEV) project led by Per Ole Iversen, and The Politics of Global Health Security project led by Katerini Storeng.
Held at Professorboligen, the event offered an opportunity for the three research teams and other interested persons registering for the event to meet. Moderated by Mekdes Gebremariam, Associate Professor at the Institute of Health and Society & Deputy Director at CGH, the program consisted of presentations from Josef Noll, Per Ole Iversen and Katerini Storeng, followed by two guest speakers: Terje Andreas Eikemo, leader of the Centre for Global Health Inequalities Research at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and Charlotte Boccara, researcher at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, UiO.
