The 37th edition of the "Prismas Casa de las Ciencias a la Divulgación" awards includes a distinction for the UAB Science Carriage. The award is conferred by the "Museos Científicos Coruñeses" of the A Coruña City Council and will be given under the category of best singular project. The awards ceremony will take place on 16 November in A Coruña.
The Prismas awards are an initiative of the "Museos Científicos Coruñeses", a service of the A Coruña City Council formed by the interactive science museums Casa das Ciencias, Domus and Aquarium Finisterrae. Its aim is to promote the dissemination of scientific culture in Spain and to support all professionals working in this field.
The Science Carriage is an initiative by the UAB and the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, which was launched for the first time in 2023. It is a space for the dissemination of science and innovation in a train carriage that makes the Barcelona-Vallès route to share with passengers the results of research work and improve the scientific-technical education of society on issues of great social importance. The first edition was dedicated to mental health and this year it is dedicated to disseminating the need to reduce the use of fossil fuels. The Science Carriage is made up of different actions: in addition to the infographics on display, it includes podcasts and interactions with train users and UAB researchers. The proposal becomes a laboratory for scientific dissemination in which to explore the possibilities of different methodologies with which to reach the public.
