Record Crowd Expected at Carman's Fun Run 2025

Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA)

This Sunday, February 16, over 8,000 participants will lace up at Elsternwick Park in Brighton for the annual Carman's Fun Run — its largest turnout yet.

Adults, kids, and dogs will take to the Bayside pavements in pink to raise awareness and fundraise for breast cancer, the most common cancer diagnosed in Australian women.

Among them are the Raymond brothers, led by Liam, who is running in honour of their mum, Emma. Emma was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022 and received the all clear from her medical team in mid-2023, after undergoing extensive treatment. A year later, Emma was told her cancer had returned and was diagnosed as metastatic, with cancer cells having spread to the thin tissue layer covering her brain.

Despite the challenges, Emma remains positive, crediting Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) for their invaluable support and information throughout her journey.

"Breast cancer has challenged our family like nothing ever has," says Liam. "We wanted to do something to make a difference, and when I stumbled across the Carman's Fun Run, I knew it was the perfect way to show our support for Mum and BCNA."

The Raymonds have rallied an entire team of 50 people — aptly named 'Em-bracing The Challenge' — to run alongside them, raising funds to ensure BCNA can continue to provide resources, guidance, and advocacy for those facing a breast cancer diagnosis.

"Mum continues to show incredible toughness while teaching us to choose gratitude every day," Liam says. "Life can't be taken for granted, and we're grateful for the amazing support network around us."

Beyond the 5km, 10km and 21km runs and the 5km Pink Lady walk, lots of fun activities are planned in the event village, including food trucks, children's activities, entertainment, Carman's product giveaways, retail stalls, and more. Recharge at food and coffee vendors, browse retail and merchandise stands, and take a quiet moment at BCNA's Mini-Field of Women tribute space.

Meet with BCNA Ambassadors at the event including Raelene Boyle and Fox Footy's Sarah Jones, AFL players, Ricky from The Block - Phillip Island 2024, and Melbourne Vixens' Kate Moloney.

Fundraising through Carman's Fun Run help provide essential resources, advocacy, and support for the 21,000 Australians diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
