A record $1.085 million in funding has been revealed by the Cook Labor Government to deliver projects tackling gender inequality across Western Australia through the Women's Grants for a Stronger Future program.
The expansion of the program builds on the success of last year's grants, with applicants eligible for a maximum of $250,000 in funding for initiatives that work towards the primary prevention of violence against women.
The program is administered by the Department of Communities and provides funding support to develop projects that advance gender equality to build a better, fairer, and more equitable community.
Some of the standout programs supported under this round of funding include:
- The Family Planning Association of Western Australia Inc. to work with young people and women in detention. The funds will support the co-design of a culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based sexual violence prevention educational program tailored for this group;
- Indigo Junction's Maarli Deadly Yorgas workshops to support women in small business;
- The Underground Collaborative Inc's New Employment Pathways for Women Surviving FDV, which supports family and domestic violence survivors into entry-level employment opportunities; and
- Gnowangerup Aboriginal Corporation to empower Noongar women to engage in the restoration economy, focusing on regenerative land use and nature repair initiatives through specialised training and mentoring.

As stated by Women's Interests Minister Sue Ellery:
"Our Government is proud to support such a comprehensive and innovative range of projects across Western Australia through this grants program.
"Women and girls in WA deserve to live and work in a community where they are safe, diversity is embraced, and access to resources and opportunities isn't determined by gender.
"Thanks to the record $1.085 million investment into the Women's Grants for a Stronger Future program, 48 organisations have been supported to deliver better outcomes for women and girls wherever they might experience barriers - at school, in the workplace, in retirement, and in their homes and communities.
"Progressing gender equality requires a whole-of-community effort. The range of grants supported in this round of funding demonstrates a ground-swell of collective responsibility, interest, and commitment across the State to addressing gender equality."
