Powering down the pokies and a mandatory cashless card have the overwhelming support of the NSW public, according to the latest Community Attitudes to Gambling Reform Survey conducted by Wesley Mission and Compass Polling.
Results showed significant public backing for measures aimed at reducing gambling harm in New South Wales.

Mandatory cashless gambling continues to be one of the top interventions identified by respondents to reduce gambling harm. The survey highlights public comfort with the new technology with 72% of respondents stating they had no reservations about its implementation.
Wesley Mission CEO, Rev Stu Cameron, says "The strong support for this measure underscores a clear message to the Government, the community is ready for change."
Extended shutdown periods of poker machines:
An overwhelming 82% of respondents supported a longer shutdown period for poker machines, running from midnight to 10am.
"Powering down pokies for a few extra hours is a practical step that gives people some reprieve while addressing the broader public health crisis of gambling harm," says Rev Cameron.
This is the fourth Community Attitudes to Gambling Reform Survey and it is the fourth time there has been strong public support for reforms that prioritise harm minimisation.
"These findings highlight an undeniable call for action. The people of New South Wales are demanding stronger action that prioritises people of pokies profits. It is time for action."
