Bega Valley Shire Council is calling for Bega Valley volunteer organisations to register an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the Celebrate Service Volunteer Expo, which will be held during National Volunteer Week (19 – 25 May).
Council's acting Community and Cultural Services Manager, Yvette Parker said the volunteer expo will provide the opportunity for community organisations and groups to showcase their cause to potential volunteers, connect with potential volunteers and foster community engagement.
"This year the expo will be held at Club Sapphire Merimbula between 10am and 1.30pm on Tuesday 20 May," she said.
"We encourage all Bega Valley not-for-profit organisations to increase their visibility within the community by participating in this dynamic event.
"By providing information on volunteer opportunities, organisations can attract individuals who are passionate about their causes and hopefully recruit new volunteers.
"The volunteer expo is also useful for networking and collaboration. By interacting with other organisations, participants can share best practices, resources and possibly develop partnerships.
"These collaborations may lead to more effective programs and initiatives, as organisations pool their strengths and work together towards common goals.
"The importance of volunteering in small rural communities cannot be overstated. Volunteering binds, strengthens and propels our communities forward."
