Red Sox's Whitlock Named 2025 Jimmy Fund Captain

The Jimmy Fund announced today that Boston Red Sox pitcher, Garrett Whitlock, will once again serve as the Jimmy Fund Captain this season. For the third consecutive season, Whitlock will be an ambassador to support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund's fundraising efforts for cancer care and research. The Red Sox have partnered with the Jimmy Fund since 1953, the longest and most unique partnership in sports, and as Jimmy Fund Captain, Whitlock will continue this tradition. In this role, Whitlock will attend fundraising events, visit patients, build support, and raise funds for cancer care and research at Dana-Farber.

"I am excited to serve as the Jimmy Fund Captain to continue building on the strong foundation and connection we've grown over the past two years," said Whitlock. "It's an honor for my wife, Jordan, and me to help raise awareness for Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund as we work to eradicate cancer. The bond between the Red Sox and the Jimmy Fund runs deep, and I look forward to further supporting this incredible mission."

"We are thrilled to announce Garrett Whitlock as our Jimmy Fund Captain this year," said Brock Holt, Jimmy Fund co-chair and former Red Sox player. "As a former Jimmy Fund Captain myself, I know how rewarding the role is. Garrett's support of the Jimmy Fund continues a longstanding tradition of Red Sox players who have served as Jimmy Fund ambassadors in the community to help raise awareness and defy cancer. We look forward to working with Garrett."

Past Jimmy Fund Captains also include Nathan Eovaldi, Mitch Moreland, Pablo Sandoval, Will Middlebrooks, David Ross, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Daniel Bard, Clay Buchholz, and the late Tim Wakefield.

Grassroots community fundraising is the heart and soul of the Jimmy Fund-thousands of people organize events such as bake sales, lemonade stands, runs, walks, golf tournaments, dances, auctions, softball games, and more, bringing their communities together to help Dana-Farber save lives.
