The completion of a refurbished jetty and seawall supplement with an installation of a new dinghy rack that will improve the experience for visitors and watercraft users, has been marked with an official opening at the water's edge overlooking Quakers Hat Bay.
Design and construction contractors joined Mosman Mayor Carolyn Corrigan at Inkerman Street Wharf.
The occasion formally marked completion of works to replace dilapidated jetty decking and restore an adjacent seawall. The project also made improvements to access around an on-site watercraft storage area and created formal spaces for boat users to enhance safety.
The $290,000 project received $170,000 funding from the Australian Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program, with Mosman Council financing the remaining cost.
Mayor Corrigan said the infrastructure project was an important part of the continued improvement and maintenance of community assets.
"The works at Inkerman Street Wharf provide a much-improved aesthetic but also enhance the safety and experience for watercraft users and those who visit this bayside location," she said.
"The marine environment is such a significant part of Mosman's character as a harbourside village.
"Projects that enhance the quality and experience of waterways are an important part of Council's service delivery."
Federal Member for Warringah Zali Steggall said the Middle Harbour foreshores were a much-loved and unique part of the area's heritage.
"It's wonderful that both local and federal governments have been able to work together to deliver funding to improve these amenities for the community."
