Region Marks 110th Anzac Day Anniversary

Western Downs Regional Council

Western Downs communities will come together on 25 April to commemorate all the brave service persons who have served or currently serve in defence of this nation's freedom.

The 2025 Anzac Day commemoration marks 110 years since the landing of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) at Gallipoli, with Western Downs Regional Council, local RSL sub-branches and community organisations hosting commemorative events at 14 locations throughout the Western Downs.

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Andrew Smith said this year will be just as important as any other, where our community can come together and reflect on the sacrifices of our defence personnel by participating in Anzac Day events in our region.

"Our community is proud of our region, and the events this Anzac Day will allow the community to connect and reflect on the sacrifices made by those who have and currently serve to defend this region's traditional Australian values," Mr Smith said.

"Council is proud to work with local RSL sub-branches and community organisations to deliver their time and effort to the contribution of the Anzac Day commemorative events.

"Residents who are able to attend any of the regions commemorative events over the day can honour all past and present service personnel by placing a wreath or poppy at any of the services around the Western Downs.

"Anzac Day is a great day of opportunity to reflect and express gratitude to all service personnel who have served to help ensure Australia is a free, wonderful country for residents of all backgrounds and ages."
