Earth Resources Regulation has responded to the surge in quarry work plan submissions and minerals exploration licence applications by assessing proposals within the required timeframes.
Victoria's Big Build has resulted in demand for rock, gravel and sand. The regulator assessed 98 per cent of work plan applications for quarries within the required timeframes in 2020-2021.
Interest in Victorian minerals exploration is at an all-time high according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Ninety-three per cent of minerals related work plan applications were assessed within required timeframes last financial year.
The regulator continues with implementing business and process improvements focused on maximising the efficiency and effectiveness of its application and assessment processes for quarries and mineral exploration.
