Today, on the 11th day of the 11th month, the community came together at Remembrance Day services around the Region to pause and remember the brave men and women who served Australia.
Rockhampton Regional Council Councillors paid their respects during a poignant service at Rockhampton's John Leak Memorial.
Impressed by the strong community turnout, Deputy Mayor Drew Wickerson expressed his gratitude for the community's dedication to honour those who served.
"This day is an important date in our nation's calendar," Cr Wickerson said.
"Remembrance Day is a time to pause and reflect on the loss of Australian service men and women who were killed during wars and conflict.
"It's essential we come together as a community to honour their courage and remember their service, ensuring their stories are passed down to future generations.
"Today's service was incredibly moving and was a heartfelt reminder of the enduring legacy of those who have served and our promise to never forget their sacrifice.
"Our thanks also to the 9th Battalion AIF Living History Unit for taking part as well as all the schools who attended."
The service began at 10.30am and included a minute's silence to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
