East Gippsland Shire Council awarded two-year contracts for remote trailer waste services at its 2 June meeting.
Council is responsible for 10 waste trailers which are positioned in remote communities and ensure frequent waste services are available.
The advertised tender was divided into four distinct collection areas to improve the level of service delivery and also addressing the isolation of services during natural disasters.
The contract to Area One which covers the Club Terrace, Combienbar, Chandlers Creek and Furnell communities was awarded to Orbost Civil and Civic Pty Ltd ($49,950pa).
Area Two covering the communities of Goongerah, Dellicknora, Tubbut and Deddick was award to Jamie V Ingram Pty Ltd ($52,000pa).
Area Three, Gelantipy, was awarded to Orbost Civil and Civic Pty Ltd ($21,980pa).
Area Four, Genoa, was also awarded to Orbost Civil and Civic Pty Ltd (schedule of rates).
Council also approved payment to Jarvis Norwood Constructions Pty Ltd ($266,405.90) for repairs to the Davies Creek Bridge in Mallacoota, which was significantly damaged during the bushfires.
