Report Illegal Rubbish Dumping With RID

Hawkesbury City Council is encouraging residents to report illegal rubbish dumping to create a cleaner and safer community for everyone.

Discarded rubbish on roadside

The Council has teamed up with the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) to make reporting of illegal dumping easier through the Report Illegal Dumping (RID) portal at ridonline.epa.nsw.gov.au

More than 700 instances of illegal dumping on public land alone were reported to Council in 2024.

Illegal dumping includes household items, old tyres, green waste or construction waste (e.g. bricks and timber).

When you report illegal dumping, you help the EPA and Hawkesbury City Council to:

  • protect human health and the environment
  • detect and penalise dumpers
  • find and clean up dumped waste
  • identify dumping hot spots so strategies can be developed to prevent this behaviour in future

If you witness illegal dumping, note the time, location, car rego, make and model, description of the person, and, if possible, take a photo of the dumped waste, then:

  • visit RID Online ridonline.epa.nsw.gov.au
  • upload a picture of the dumped waste
  • provide the location of the dumped waste
  • describe the type of dumped waste
  • submit your report.
