Tasmanian power bill prices have bucked the nation, the Energy Consumers Australia report shows.
Minister for Energy and Renewables, Nick Duigan, said while small business power bills increased across the nation, Tasmania's small businesses experienced power bill decreases.
"Small business electricity bills across Australia were eight per cent higher for businesses compared to a year ago. In Tasmania they dropped," Minister Duigan said.
"Average annual electricity bills are $5,900 for businesses consuming 20,000 kWh per annum in Tasmania. This is compared with $10,310 in some other jurisdictions for the same usage."
As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, the Tasmanian Government is focused on keeping power bills the lowest in the nation.
The latest data follows confirmation last week that Tasmania has the lowest energy prices in the nation.
"The Tasmanian Government is providing significant concessions to help reduce pressure on households and small businesses, such as our supercharged Renewable Energy Dividend, which will provide $300 in support to Tasmanian small businesses," Minister Duigan said.
"Energy retailers have already commenced the process of applying the Renewable Energy Dividend ready for customers' next month billing cycle on behalf of the Tasmanian Liberal Government.
"Through our Supercharged Renewable Energy Dividend, we are providing a massive $250 to all Tasmanian households, and $300 to small business customers.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government continues to deliver on its long-term plan to ensure Tasmania has the power it needs for our future – at the lowest possible cost to consumers.
