Situated in Broad Gully Road, Diamond Creek the significant makeover is funded via $1.19 million from the Victorian Government Growing Suburbs Fund and $362,000 Council contribution.

The project aims to provide recreational space, leisure and sports opportunities for all ages and abilities.

In 2023, Council asked residents to provide their feedback on the designs.

Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan said he was thrilled to see construction commence on the new recreational space for Diamond Creek.

"Ryans Reserve is a fantastic open space, used by many families and now it will be accessible for even more locals to enjoy," Cr Ramcharan said.

Ellis Ward Councillor Peter Perkins acknowledged the community's invaluable contribution to the design of the park via the consultation process.

"Council heard what is important to the community and has incorporated these features, including trampolines for the young ones, accessible paths ensuring inclusivity, exercise equipment for fitness and well-maintained public amenities.

"There will also be power supply near the basketball court which will help facilitate future community events, making this space even more versatile," he said.

Construction is set to be complete by late 2024.
