Hobsons Bay City Council has advised EPA that one of its reserves where asbestos-containing material was found has been cleaned up and will likely re-open on Monday 22 April.
EPA and Hobsons Bay City Council determined the likely source of contamination at PA Burns Reserve to be legacy in situ contamination. Council has had the mulch raked, the contaminant removed and is awaiting a final clearance certificate before removing fencing at the site.
EPA has not received any new reports of potential asbestos contamination in mulch in public parks and reserves today, Saturday 20 April.
