Three failed sections of riverbank at Windsor will be restored, with works commencing this Wednesday, 5 February 2025.
The sections, two along The Terrace and one at the south-western end of Governor Phillip Park, suffered significant erosion and undercutting during the flood events of 2020-2024. The repair designs have had to overcome considerable engineering challenges to ensure a resilient and long-lasting result.
The works will involve site clearing and the installation of gabion cage retaining structures to reinstate the flood-damaged riverbank. The walking path running parallel to The Terrace will also be reinstated.
The riverbank works are being funded through the NSW Government's Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Package with a co-contribution from Hawkesbury City Council. Council thanks the community for its patience while designs and funding agreements for the work were finalised.
Works are scheduled to be completed in June 2025, weather permitting, and will be carried out during weekdays between 7am and 5pm and, Saturdays between 8am and 1pm. Pedestrians and road users are asked to follow all traffic signs, controls and directions.
