Ballarat drivers can look forward to safer and smoother roads as maintenance crews undertake a widespread resurfacing program as part of the Andrews Labor Government's regional road maintenance blitz.
Minister for Roads Jaala Pulford today visited Ballarat's Victoria Street, which is the first of 12 sites to be targeted across 10 of western Victoria's busiest roads as part of the $6.65 million resurfacing package.
The program will improve the durability, lifespan and safety of the roads scheduled to receive upgrades, as well as safeguarding against water damage.
Roads set to be resurfaced as part of the three-week operation include sections of Victoria Street and Gillies Street in Ballarat, Barkly Street and Ararat-Halls Gap Road in Ararat, Stawell-Avoca Road, Dunach-Eddington Road, Daylesford-Ballarat Road, Bungaree-Wallace Road, Ballarat-Maryborough Road and Tuaggra Street.
More than 115 kilometres of western Victorian roads have already been resurfaced this maintenance season.
The Labor Government's $425 million regional roads maintenance blitz will see 370 kilometres of roads across western Victoria rebuilt, resurfaced and repaired - giving drivers across the state smoother, safer journeys.
