Joint media release
Today Mr Hamish McCormick is formally retiring as Chief Executive of the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA), Inspector-General in Bankruptcy and Registrar of Personal Property Securities.
Since his appointment in 2017, Mr McCormick has provided strong leadership, driving innovation and ongoing improvement to modernise AFSA's services and reduce regulatory burden.
Mr McCormick leaves AFSA with a clear direction for the future, having built a broad program of work that is designed to support vulnerable users, while firmly dealing with system misuse.
Central to this program is digital transformation, designed to build AFSA's capability as a data driven regulator.
On behalf of the Australian Government, we would like to thank him for his long and dedicated service to the Australian community, both domestically and internationally, and wish him well for the next phase of his life.
A recruitment process to identify a suitable replacement is currently underway.
In the interim, AFSA's executive team will continue to provide strong leadership to deliver on AFSA strategic goals.
