Government of Canada investment supports woman-owned M.I.S Electronics to add new technologies and grow
Support for manufacturers is vital. It boosts our economy, creates local jobs, and keeps essential industries strong. That is why the Government of Canada is investing in local manufacturers that are improving their manufacturing practices and innovations so Canada can have a strong presence on the global stage and bring new, improved products and services to market.
One of these important locally manufactured products is assembled Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), used in a variety of potentially lifesaving medical products such as endoscopic probes, pacemakers, small medical devices, and more. A woman-owned and led company, M.I.S. Electronics Inc. (M.I.S.) is a leader in the assembly of PCBs manufacturing in the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario, serving important sectors including, Internet of Things (IoT), communications, automotive, and medical devices. In fact, nearly all electronic devices including phones, computers, tablets, televisions, and cars, are dependent on circuit boards to connect different components of the devices and allow for communication between them.
Today, Majid Jowhari, Member of Parliament for Richmond Hill, on behalf of the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), visited M.I.S. to meet with and hear from employees about how the over $1-million investment supported replacing its manufacturing line with new state-of-the-art technologies to meet growing demands from domestic and international clients. The new manufacturing line has had positive impacts on productivity, allowing M.I.S. to nearly double its electronic components manufacturing per hour.
The Government of Canada is investing in businesses to promote growth, drive innovation, and deliver new solutions and products to essential industries, creating a strong economy that works for all Canadians.
