A man will face court charged after a police officer was allegedly struck by a trail bike in Sydney's west today.
About 11.50am (Wednesday 26 March 2025), two officers attached to the North West Metropolitan Region were patrolling the vicinity of Doonside Railway Station when they attempted to stop the rider of a trailbike allegedly riding along the pedestrian ramp.
Police will allege the rider of the trail bike accelerated towards police, striking a male constable and pinning him against a metal barrier.
The constable was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.
A second male constable attached to North West Metropolitan Region Operations – was not injured – and arrested the rider – a 20-year-old man – and the pillion passenger – a 19-year-old woman.
A crime scene was established as an investigation into the incident commenced.
They were taken to Blacktown Police Station where the man was charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause aggravated bodily harm, assault police officer in execution of duty without aggravated bodily harm, use offensive weapon to prevent police investigation, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, use uninsured motor vehicle on road, use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road, and rider without helmet ride with one passenger without helmet.
He was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 27 March 2025).
The woman was issued an infringement notice for not wearing a helmet.
