Police have caught eight people - including a ride share driver - allegedly under the influence of alcohol while behind the wheel, during an operation on the Nepean Highway at the weekend.
The operation was conducted between 7pm Saturday night through to the early hours of Sunday morning along the southbound lanes of the highway.
In total 3,481 preliminary breath tests were conducted, with eight motorists processed for drink driving.
A 29-year-old man allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.102 - more than twice the legal limit. He was issued a penalty infringement notice for exceed PCA at the cost of $817, and had his driver's licence cancelled and disqualified for ten months.
A 37-year-old woman allegedly refused to provide an oral fluid sample and will be summonsed to court at a later date.
One driver, who was behind the wheel of a rideshare vehicle, allegedly blew 0.019. While it is not over 0.05, rideshare drivers, including taxi drivers, are not permitted to have any alcohol in their system.
Other items of note include:
• Nine preliminary oral fluid tests conducted
• Four unregistered motor vehicles detected
• Two unlicensed drivers
• One motorist failed to display P-plates
• One failed to obey a road sign
• Two vehicles were impounded.

"Consuming alcohol - even just a couple of drinks - can severely impair your ability to make good decisions while behind the wheel.
"It's not just yourself you need to think about; it's also your passengers and other road users whose lives could be cut short or impacted by a serious injury.
"Everyone needs to play their part in reducing road trauma, and one of the easiest ways to do that is by not drinking and driving."
