Road closures for 2023 Gold Coast Pacific Air Show

Police would like to remind residents of upcoming road closures, water exclusion zones and restricted air-space due to the upcoming inaugural Gold Coast Pacific Air Show.

The event will be conducted over three days, from Friday August 18 to Sunday August 20, 2023.

Surfers Paradise beach will be the event-hub which will see the Esplanade subject to a road closure.

Motorists are urged to avoid traveling along the Esplanade over the three-day event due to diversions that will be in place.

The Pacific Air Show will operate using restricted airspace approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

This restricted air-space will encompass an area covering a five nautical-mile circumference over Surfers Paradise.

There will also be an enforceable water exclusion zone in the Coral Sea, opposite Cavill Mall.

Police have been working with all-emergency services, the City of Gold Coast and show organisers to ensure the event is conducted safely and with minimum disruption to residents and local businesses.

Motorists can expect delays and traffic congestion at the following road closures:

Friday August 18 to Sunday August 20, 2023:

  • Full road closure of the Esplanade from the 'Soul' building roundabout to Hanlan Street.
  • Closure of the southbound lane only ofthe Esplanade from Hanlan Street to Clifford Street.

Police thank residents for their patience during these disruptions.
