Visitors to Wallaroo National Park and Wallaroo State Forest are advised to check websites before visiting over the coming months as urgent works are undertaken on several roads.
NPWS Area Manager Rachel Reese said the road works had become necessary following recent wet weather.
'We are taking the opportunity to repair three main roads to improve access for visitors, as well as essential services such as fire-fighting.
'The works will minimise erosion and sedimentation which will protect waterways and important habitat for koalas and other threatened species on the coastal floodplain.
'The reserves will remain open, with signs and barricades around closed areas,' Ms Reese said.
Closures in Wallaroo National Park are also advised on the NPWS Current alerts for NSW National Parks webpage.
