Cyclists will be travelling on roads through North Sydney, Darling Harbour, Haberfield, and Meadowbank, before finishing at Sydney Olympic Park.
Between 4am and 11am (Sunday 16 October) there will only be two lanes in each direction available to motorists on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and the Cahill Expressway will be closed southbound.
Other road closures will be in place from 4am to 11am including sections of:
- Miller, Arthur, Angelo, Blue, Carlow, Denison, Little Spring, Little Walker, Mount and Berry Streets in North Sydney,
- College Street, Darling Drive, Macquarie Street, Conservatorium Road, Grosvenor Street, Bridge Street, Argyle Street, Dalgety Road, Napoleon Street, Merriman Street, Hunter Street, Sussex Street, Rodens Lane, Towns Place, Upper Fort Street, Watson Road, Hickson Road, Mrs Macquarie's Road and Art Gallery Road in the Sydney CBD and The Rocks; and ,
- Pyrmont and Pirrama Roads in Pyrmont.
Special event clearways will be in place between North Sydney and Sydney Olympic Park from 3am until 2pm (Sunday 16 October) and motorists are advised to check signs before parking to avoid vehicles being towed away.
Operation commander, Superintendent Paul Carrett, is urging motorists to allow plenty of additional travel time and to expect delays during the closures. Motorists should also be aware cyclists – including children – will be riding on roads.
"If you're planning on coming into the Sydney CBD, I urge you to plan your trip, use public transport and be patient as there may be traffic delays along a number of streets," Superintendent Carrett said.
The Royal Botanic Gardens will not be accessible by car due to the road closures so those heading to the Opera House are advised to catch the train or the bus to Circular Quay.
