Northern Territory Police have been out on the roads conducting Random Road Safety Operations which have resulted in officers seizing illegal alcohol.
Last week on Thursday, local members conducting an Random Breath and Drug Testing Station at Adelaide River apprehended 4 drink drivers:
- 1 x low range (unlicensed driver with a search locating 90g of cannabis) - 49-year-old male from Katherine
- 1 x low range - 73-year-old male from Adelaide River
- 1 x medium range - 35-year-old female from Pine Creek
- 1 x high range - 50-year-old female from Palmerston
A further 2 drivers were also found to be unlicensed after returning negative results.
A search of a vehicle travelling from Wadeye found:
- 89g of cannabis
- 17 x 1L bottles of rum
- 9 x 700ml bottles of rum
- 46 x Beer cans
- 4 x 2L wine casks
All was seized for destruction and the driver charged.
Last night, Batchelor Police assisted the Douglas Daly region by doing another RBT which seized 14 bottles of spirits and 600g of cannabis destined for remote communities.
Superintendent Meghan Funnell said " Road safety is everyone's responsibility and NT Police can be Anywhere; Anytime.
"As a community we need to start holding those around us to higher standard. If you know someone who drives while intoxicated or intends to supply illicit substances to your community, contact police on 131 444 or visit your local station."
