Road work crews will be out in force in Mullumbimby over the next week as smooth new roads are delivered on sections of Station Street, Stuart Street, Fern Street and Whian Street.
"Crews will be moving around these streets, diverting traffic as needed and working to minimise traffic delays but we do ask people to keep an eye on the signage and avoid streets under construction if possible," Council's Director Infrastructure Services Phil Holloway said.
"Footpaths will remain open at all times so it will be fine to get to the shops but you may need to park outside of the work zone where directed," Mr Holloway said.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused but we will be working hard to get these much-needed road upgrades delivered as quickly as possible and finished by the end of next week," he said.
The works schedule includes the following, weather permitting:
Thursday/Friday 3-4 June – Stormwater pipe installation on Stuart Street adjacent to 124 Stuart Street.
Saturday 5 June – Station Street road resurfacing on sections between Burringbar Street to Fern Street including opposite the Community Preschool.
Sunday 6 June – Stuart Street road resurfacing – travel lanes only in the commercial area from Burringbar St to approx. 116 Stuart St.
Monday 7 June – Stuart Street road resurfacing and widening in residential area from 116 Stuart St to Fern St.
Tuesday 8 June – Fern Street road resurfacing
Wednesday 9 June – Fern Street road resurfacing
Thursday 10 June – Whian Street road resurfacing.
Roadworks on Stuart Street are the first part of upgrading and maintenance works under the Green Spine Project, one of the key initiatives of the Our Mullubimby Masterplan.
