Robbery investigation, Kirwan

Detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify a male youth who stole a woman's car from Fitzgerald Street in Kirwan yesterday (November 20).

At 4.35pm, police were called to assist the 41-year-old woman and her 10-year-old child whose car had been stolen by an unknown juvenile.

The woman and boy tried to prevent the theft, however, were dragged a short distance by the car before losing their grip.

The woman and child were both transported to Townsville University Hospital with minor injuries and abrasions.

The juvenile is described as First Nations in appearance, wearing a red bandana over his face with dark clothing and a black satchel.

The car was found abandoned nearby at 5.45pm on Cranbrook Street.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have dash-camera footage or CCTV from Fitzgerald Crescent at the time of the theft, to contact them.

Investigations are ongoing.
