Rockhampton is going LIVE for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games at special celebration sites being activated for both Games.
The activations are part of statewide celebrations where Queenslanders will gather for special events backing our Aussie athletes and marking our own '8-Years-To-Go' milestone as hosts of the 2032 Games.
Olympics and Paralympics LIVE events will ignite the Olympic spirit from the Gold Coast to Cairns and west to Longreach during Paris 2024.
Rockhampton will be a hub for Central Queenslanders to enjoy free broadcast coverage from Friday to Sunday, 26 – 28 July for the first weekend of the Olympics and coinciding with that weekend's River Festival, and other event details to be confirmed for the Paralympics.
Additional LIVE sites will be activated across the state throughout the Games including Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Longreach, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns.
The LIVE sites will feature Nine Network big-screen Games telecasts as well as special events backing local athletes and inspiring future Olympians and Paralympians, including those who will compete on home soil in 2032.
LIVE site activities in Rockhampton are being supported by the Queensland Government and Rockhampton Regional Council.
Paris 2024 broadcasts go LIVE on various dates at locations across Queensland from 26 July to 12 August (AEST) for the Olympic Games and 28 August to 9 September (AEST) for the Paralympic Games.
As stated by Minister for State Development and Infrastructure Grace Grace:

"Olympics and Paralympics LIVE sites will be the perfect place for our Queensland communities to get together and show their support for our inspirational athletes.
"Our first LIVE site will activate at South Bank for the Paris Games Opening Ceremony, just days after we celebrate our own milestone of 8-Years-To-Go until the start of our Games on 23 July 2032.
"Rockhampton locals will be able to celebrate at special LIVE sites for both Games.
"All through Paris 2024, Queenslanders will be sharing the special excitement that goes with being a future Games host."

"The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be shared across Queensland and these LIVE sites are just a taste of what's in store in the years ahead, as we celebrate sport together. "I congratulate all involved in bringing the Paris 2024 Games to life, from Cairns to Coolangatta."
As stated by Rockhampton Mayor Tony Williams:
"Rockhampton has a long and celebrated history with the Olympics and Paralympics, producing a significant number of athletes across many sports.

As stated by Member for Keppel Brittany Lauga:
"I am so excited about the opportunity for our community to get together at these LIVE sites to cheer on our athletes as they cross the finish line and bring home the gold! There is no better way to experience the excitement of the games than by watching them live with families and fans. Let's grab our friends and families and head to a site to be part of the action and to show the athletes we are behind them every step of the way!"
As stated by Paris 2024 Olympic athlete Matt Denny from Allora in the Southern Downs (Matt will compete in the Discus event he was previously selected for both Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020):

As stated by Australian Paralympic Team co-captain Curtis McGrath:
"It's fantastic to know that our friends, families and fans will have the opportunity to cheer on the Australian Paralympic Team at Paralympics LIVE events around Queensland.
