The iconic Rocky Hill War Memorial Tower will temporarily close to the public as it undergoes vital conservation works in preparation for its 100th anniversary in late 2025. These specialist works will focus on concrete remediation and addressing water ingress issues, ensuring the long-term preservation of this important historical landmark, and enhancing its structural integrity for generations to come.
The Memorial and access to the forecourt will also be closed to the public from early February for several months, including ANZAC Day. The community is encouraged to continue supporting the official ANZAC Day services at Belmore Park, organised by the Goulburn RSL Sub-Branch, to pay tribute to those who served.
This significant conservation project has been made possible through $132,250 in funding from the Department of Veterans' Affairs Saluting Their Service Program, with additional contributions from Goulburn Mulwaree Council to complete these works. The Rocky Hill War Memorial stands as a lasting tribute to those who served, and these upgrades reflect the community's commitment to honouring its history while safeguarding its future.
While the tower is closed, the Rocky Hill War Memorial Museum will remain open during its normal operating hours, allowing visitors to continue exploring the region's rich wartime history and stories.
