Rogue Franklin Liberal Meeting Tests Rockliff Leadership

Tas Labor

The Liberals' Franklin mess is set to step up to a new level of madness tonight, with ousted Chair Brendan Blomeley reported to be holding a rogue meeting to wrestle back control of the branch in defiance of the party.

As revealed by The Mercury - Mr Blomeley "signalled he's set to regain the reins of the Franklin electorate committee by calling a meeting for July 9 - a week after a meeting scheduled for Tuesday night by his replacement chair, former MP Dean Young."

It has been reported that the Premier and his senior ministers unsuccessfully tried to broker a peace-deal to put an end to this saga. Every minute they spend on this mess is a minute they are not spending representing Tasmanians.

If tonight's rogue meeting goes ahead, it is another serious vote of no confidence in Mr Rockliff.

If the Liberals can't manage themselves, how can they possibly manage Tasmania?
