Rottnest Island is set for another huge summer season with five new tourism experiences confirmed to join the island's offerings, alongside the completion of major infrastructure projects and the opening of food and beverage and accommodation bookings at The Lodge Wadjemup.

The experiences include:

  • full-day guided cycling adventures exploring the island's history and natural wonders through Laura the Explorer Bike Tours;
  • traditional sailing adventures aboard one of Australia's last operating pearl luggers with Willie Creek Pearl Lugger Cruises;
  • beachside wellness programs including yoga and mindfulness sessions through Evolve in You;
  • beach safety education and practical lifesaving skills delivered by Surf Life Saving WA; and
  • digital navigation of the Wadjemup Bidi trails through the WA Parks Foundation Smartreka app.

In other good news, Kuld Creamery will be operating at a new location this summer in Geordie Bay, where they will be serving handcrafted ice-cream alongside its exclusive Quokka Traxx flavour.

Newly completed refurbishments across the island also mean more people will be able to stay on the island, in modernised facilities.

Stage One of the refurbished The Lodge Wadjemup will open bookings from tomorrow for early 2025, with 63 refurbished rooms available to book, plus food and beverage offerings also to open this summer including Pelican kiosk and Sunsets Rottnest.

It follows recent upgrades at units at Geordie Bay, showcasing upgraded utilities, modernised kitchens, bathrooms and outdoor amenities across 51 self-contained Stay Rottnest units.

Additionally, upgrades to the Main Jetty are finalised, ensuring safe and efficient access to the island for years to come, completing a $26.8 million State investment into essential marine infrastructure.

Visitors can stay longer to enjoy these new experiences this summer with the recent return of the popular late-night ferry service, with the last ferry departing the island at 9pm.

This service currently operates from Thursday to Sunday until January, then will move to Friday to Sunday from February to April 2025.

As stated by Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:

"This summer promises to be an exciting time at Rottnest Island, with new experiences and improved facilities catering to all visitors - from adventure seekers to those simply wanting to relax and unwind.

"The diverse range of new activities demonstrates our commitment to expanding the island's offerings to enhance the visitor experience.

"The completion of major infrastructure projects, including the Geordie Bay accommodation refurbishment and Main Jetty upgrades, ensures we can continue to provide high-quality experiences for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who choose Rottnest Island as their holiday destination.

"With late-night ferry services and new food and beverage offerings at The Lodge Wadjemup, visitors will have even more opportunities to experience everything Rottnest Island has to offer this summer."
