Rottnest Island will come alive to the inaugural Island Jazz Festival to be held across three days, between July 23 and 25.
The event will feature a number of world-class acts performing jazz, blues, soul and more at venues and pop-up spaces across the island.
Those keen for a weekender on Rottnest can immerse themselves in top-class performances from sunrise to late into the night. There will be 13 free performances from some of the best talent Perth has to offer, including Adam Hall and the Velvet Playboys, Band of Soul featuring Solomon Pitt and Rubaclava.
There are three special evening jazz events with tickets available from $29 per person. Ticketed headline acts include Dirty Jazz with Jessie Gordon at Thomsons Rottnest, and Lady Swings the Blues and The Perth Cabaret Collective at the Picture Hall.
The festival is the latest event to be staged on the island this winter, with a celebration of NAIDOC Week to be held on July 9. This will feature a musical performance in Noongar from Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse and the island's first artist-in-residency program where visitors can experience an open studio environment with jeweller Megan Hevron from July 12 to 21.
The final evening of Dreamtime storytelling and stargazing, Djindoon Djenung, will take place on November 6 with award-winning Noongar guide Walter McGuire, of Go Cultural Aboriginal Tours and Experiences.
