Round 2: Community Energy Upgrades Fund Opens

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

The Australian Government has announced the Community Energy Upgrades Fund (CEUF) is opening for Round 2.

With up to $50 million available in Round 2 - the CEUF is offering grants that will provide matched funding for energy efficiency and electrification upgrades of local government facilities.

Applications will officially open from 4 March 2025 and offer grants of between $25,000 and $2.5 million for eligible projects.

Eligible projects include:

  • replacing high energy use heating in council pools with energy saving heat pumps
  • installing energy efficient lighting at sporting fields, libraries and community centres
  • investing in other energy efficiency and electrification upgrades.

These upgrades will help local governments lower energy bills, cut emissions, and make their communities more sustainable. This initiative is part of the government's commitment to helping local communities switch to cleaner, cheaper energy.

The CEUF is a merit based, competitive grant program. Local government bodies are eligible to apply. Applicants that were not successful in Round 1 are encouraged to re-apply for Round 2.

The grant opportunity guidelines have been updated for Round 2 and are now available to read in full on the business.gov.au grant webpage.
