The Royal Australian Navy welcomes Australian communities to Navy Week 2025 celebrations across the country from 3 to 9 March.
Navy Week kicks off today which follows Navy's official 124th birthday on 1 March.
This year's Navy Week theme is "Future of the Navy", in recognition of our people's investment in a larger and more lethal surface combatant fleet, complemented by a future fleet of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines.
Navy Week celebrations will include ceremonial sunsets, base open days, and a range of community events.
These events will take place in major cities and regional areas, giving all Australians a chance to engage with Navy people, gaining an insight into how Navy plays a critical role in protecting Australia's way of life, on, under and above the sea.
Navy Week is about celebrating our people and their families while showcasing Navy now and into the future.
The Royal Australian Navy invites everyone to take part and experience Navy Week 2025. Visit navy.gov.au for a full list of Navy Week events and activities.
Quotes attributable to the Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Mark Hammond, AO, RAN:
"It's an honour to open Navy Week and see our people who serve, their families, and the broader Australian community come together to celebrate and recognise the crucial role Navy plays in protecting our nation's economic prosperity and the Australian way of life."
"Navy Week 2025 recognises the significant investment in the size and lethality of the Navy's surface combatant fleet. Last year Navy achieved three successful test firings of new missile capabilities in one year, the Naval Strike Missile, the Standard Missile-6, and the Tomahawk cruise missile.
"Our people are our greatest asset. Dedicated, trained, extraordinary Australians committed to Navy's role are our competitive edge. Without our people and the support of their families none of our work would be possible."
