The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations have reached Camden with Council accepting funding of $15,000 to plan a commemorative avenue of trees at Sedgwick Reserve.
The Planting Trees for The Queen's Jubilee Program is one of a range of national and community events planned by the Australian Government to celebrate The Queen's Platinum Jubilee year.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli said the funding will go a long way to helping celebrate the major Royal accomplishment while also enhancing the Camden area.
"Trees play an important role in improving the streetscape, amenity and providing an important urban canopy and habitat in our area," Cr Fedeli said.
"It is an amazing accomplishment for Her Majesty The Queen to become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
"I am honoured to be able to mark her 70 years of service by planting a commemorative avenue of trees along Currans Hill Drive fronting Sedgwick Reserve.
"I would like to thank the Australian Government for providing the funding and look forward to seeing the trees planted in the near future."
The funding acceptance adds to Council's mission to plant 1,700 street and park trees by the end of December 2022 as part of its Every Tree Counts planting projects.
