Royal Family Crowned at 92nd Pharmacies Xmas Pageant

South Australian Tourism Commission

The National Pharmacies Royal Family has been crowned for the next National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant - another milestone as the celebration on Saturday 2 November draws closer.

National Pharmacies team members from across the state applied to be part of this year's Royal Family, with Queen Kerryn Pearsons, Pharmacist in Charge at Victor Harbor, chosen to share the spotlight with King Andrew Park, Optical Dispenser from Optical by National Pharmacies Marion.

The duo will be supported by two Princesses, Tayla Rillo and Sophie Pouwels, together with Princes Matt Crittenden and Ravi Kaushal. All were selected for their strong sense of community and passion for both National Pharmacies and the Christmas Pageant.

Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison said the 92nd National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant would again launch the festive season in South Australia.

"There are just 71 sleeps until this year's National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant and we are very excited to see the event finishing where it all began in Rundle Mall," Minister Bettison said.

"Pageant day is when decorations go up across the state, but also the beginning of the important Christmas trade period for local businesses and tourism operators.

"This is a unique South Australian tradition - one that brings joy and magic to all who share it."

National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant Director Brian Gilbertson said the Royal Family had a crucial role.

"This cherished tradition goes all the way back to 1939, when the first Queen was crowned," Mr Gilbertson said.

"The Royal Family will share the Pageant spirit with communities in the months ahead, travel aboard the Royal Christmas Ball float and lead the crowd in welcoming Father Christmas to Adelaide on 2 November."

National Pharmacies Chief Executive Vito Borrello said he was proud to announce the six successful National Pharmacies Royal Family candidates.

"I am delighted to crown Queen Kerryn and King Andrew, together with the rest of the Royal Family, and to recognise their ongoing efforts to care for our community," Mr Borrello said.

"We look forward to seeing South Australians, of all ages, celebrating the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant as it winds through the heart of Adelaide in November."

This year two South Australian children aged between six and 10 will have the chance to join the Royal Family as Junior Royals. Details will be shared during the Channel 9 show Hello SA on Sunday 1 September.
