Civil Aviation Safety Authority

Hi everbody,

This is a heads up to let you know we've released the updated RPAS and AAM Strategic Regulatory Roadmap—a detailed plan to support the safe integration of remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) and advanced air mobility (AAM) into Australian airspace and future regulatory program.

First published in 2022, the roadmap has been updated following extensive consultation with industry stakeholders. The 2024 review reflects a shared understanding between CASA and industry of the timeframes and regulatory developments needed to support this rapidly evolving sector.

Key updates include:

  • clearer timeframes to guide industry growth and innovation

  • new activities to review pathways for large RPAS and R&D operations

  • enhanced collaboration to align with global standards and address challenges such as airspace management and infrastructure development.

The updated RPAS and AAM Strategic Regulatory Roadmap is now available on the CASA website.
